ABOUT ME

I received my license to practice Marriage, Family and Child Counseling In 1976 in Southern California. For 12 years I was a regular guest therapist delving into listeners’ relationships on talk radio stations KABC, Los Angeles, and KFMB, San Diego.

In 1981 I experienced a turning point in my life and career when I was introduced to A Course in Miracles (ACIM). The “Course,” along with its adjunct—a pamphlet entitled Psychotherapy, Purpose and Practice—jettisoned me in an entirely new direction as a counselor, utterly transforming my own thinking and my work.

I realized that analyzing a client’s past and his or her dysfunctional behavior, as is customary within the mental health community, was not the best use of our time together. Instead, I eagerly began teaching my clients an entirely new, wildly effective thought system—one that I had learned—that was truly miraculous.

In 1993 my husband Paul (also a counselor) and I moved to Prescott, Arizona, where we opened the Britton Center. In addition to providing counseling and conflict resolution for various organizations, Paul and I facilitated ACIM study groups. We also created and taught “Two-Part Harmony; A Relationship Workshop,” designed for couples seeking greater happiness in their relationships.

Paul and I moved to Boulder, Colorado, in 1999 where I have continued my work with individuals and couples. I appeared regularly as the love-and-relationship expert for Denver Channel 7 News (ABC affiliate, KMGH), and I have written and recorded an audio book, From Pain to Passion: Building a Truly Great Relationship.

In 2007 I published a book that co-author Jenny Atchley and I wrote entitled, The Hokey Pokey IS What It’s All About: Words of Wisdom for the Stressed, the Overworked, the Diagnosed and Those Who Love Them. You can access this book without charge in PDF format.
